Victorian Christmas, part 1

We didn't decorate the cabin this year, although we have some great woodsy ornaments. I have to work on Christmas day this year. Bill is the head Christmas decorator...in fact, he did ALL of the decorating here, downstate, this year. Our home, downstate, is a Victorian farmhouse. No farm here though, we are in a city...LOL Bill decorated our tree this year with my Great Aunt Martha's Christmas ornaments. She willed them to my Mom when she passed away. She was my Grandma's oldest sister. She was a WILD one! In fact, she looked like 'The Clapper' lady in the commercials. Bill does NOT care for ornaments, but my Mom and I do. They sure put a lot of color on the tree. We have lots of ornaments, but he chose this theme this year.

This is the 'greenest' gawdy ornament on the tree.

This is one of my favorites. A cherub flying on a white disk. Could this be....a UFO?

My Mother-in-Law made this beautiful cross-stitch tree skirt for us. God rest her soul.

Our tree topper, this light up Santa number. I just love him and don't know why.

Our fireplace mantle, all decked out for the holidays. I'll share more pics tomorrow.

What a great fireplace you have - the screen is beautiful! i like your santa topper - I think the oil lantern he's holding in his hand makes it more old fashioned for me.

Love your mantle and screen! And that tree skirt is gorgeous. Wouldn't want to cover that up at all.

I love the Santa topper, too. He's so old fashioned. The way Santa should be.

Christmas is such a special time of year, and a Victorian Christmas is even more special!

I was waiting for you to put new items up on your blog, of course you were probably just as busy as the rest of us getting ready for Christmas. Did you get your prize gift certificate (gas card) from my bank yet? Just love seeing the ornaments from Aunt Martha, she couldn't have imagined them appearing on a computer and other people seeing them...Love, Mom

Shelley, we got the fireplace screen at a silent auction for a fundraiser for terminally ill children, it was a lot of fun.

Jen - after doing some cross stitch myself, WOW, she did a LOT of work.

Betsy and George - I'm the grumpy bah-humbug type, Bill just loves all the Christmas decor. Bill's Mom would love to hear these comments about her beautiful tree skirt.

Patty - thanks for stopping in. You are welcome anytime. I'll head on over to your place too!

Mona - we just have a small tree on a table this year. We never cover the skirt because it is so pretty.

Mom - If Aunt Martha were still around, she'd have gotten a big kick out of the internet!

Graceann - thank you for stopping by, you have a Merry Christmas, too.

Hot Belly Mama - I love your writing style and can picture, in my mind, everything that you talk about.

Cedar - the floor to ceiling mantle with the mirror is certainly our favorite Victorian item in our home.
